Unveiling the Journey: Morta Vileikytė tells us about her experience at High Potentials 2023

Join us as we delve into the insights of Morta Vileikytė, the talented Lithuaninan young graphic designer, as she shares her perspective on the last year’s edition of the High Potentials programme from the participant’s lens.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and why should young creatives be excited about the High Potentials Programme?

I am Morta, a third-year industrial design student at Vilnius Academy of Arts. Before applying to participate in the High Potentials Programme I wasn’t sure what was my direction, or where I wanted to move forward, but after two days full of meetings with amazing and unique other young creators I was completely sure – I want to create impossible things, it’s obvious that everything is possible (at least after High Potentials event)

How did the programme open doors to working with agencies, and why was it a fantastic opportunity for aspiring creatives?

After the presentation, I wasn’t sure if at least one of the agencies would invite me to an interview, but sometimes the biggest surprise happens when you don’t even expect it. Those two interviews gave me a lot of courage to start thinking about my own brand, and not to be afraid to push myself by sending portfolios to different agencies and representing myself out loud. After this event, I opened one more exhibition, won two industrial design competitions and now started working as an industrial design freelancer. Hope it’s not the end, only the very beginning!

Would you like share a brief moment from the programme that fueled your creativity and could inspire others?

The most exciting moment for me was when I understood that I am not the only one who sees the world and thinks differently than others. It gave me a lot of motivation to keep moving and just feel free around others.

Which specific skills or lessons do you reckon to have gained during the programme that has boosted your creative abilities?

I have learned that there is no time to be shy and wait, if you feel like doing something, just do it now.

What encouraging words do you have for those hesitating to join the High Potentials Programme?

Don’t hesitate! I’ve been in the same situation, questioning whether it’s worth it or if I should wait until next year. The biggest mistake you can make is choosing to delay and wait for someone to notice you. Instead, be proactive, make yourself noticeable, and demonstrate what you’re capable of.
